StoreNext Obtains ScanMaster Marketing and Distribution Rights

Company becomes sole provider of new ScanMaster releases to independent grocers

FRISCO and PLANO, Texas – March 8,  2005  —  StoreNext Retail Technologies has obtained marketing and distribution rights from Retalix Ltd. for the ScanMaster point-of-sale system, a leading retail software platform for independent grocers. The exclusive agreement is effective immediately.

Under terms of the agreement, Texas-based StoreNext will license and provide all new releases and features for the independent market, beginning with a new ScanMaster release incorporating more than 25 new capabilities to be delivered this month. According to StoreNext president and CEO Ray Carlin, ScanMaster joins the ISS45 platform in StoreNext's retail POS software family, which now represents a total installed base of more than 11,000 regional chain and independent stores. ScanMaster and ISS45 will be developed, marketed and sold separately with no plans to combine them into one platform.

"We're committed to the long-term investment protection of existing ScanMaster users, providing an affordable and convenient upgrade path, consistent with our singular strategic focus on meeting the specific needs of the independent grocery operator," said Carlin. "Our mission is to reduce the overall cost and complexity of technology, and allow our customers to focus on improving the shopping experience of their customers. ScanMaster is well-suited to do that job.

"ScanMaster was originally developed for independent operators and is now in the hands of the only company that's solely focused on the independent grocery industry," Carlin continued. "Even grocers who already have ScanMaster can get our enhanced versions from StoreNext certified ScanMaster dealers."

Carlin also said that uniting the ISS45 and ScanMaster POS products under a common distribution model will help bring StoreNext's Connected Services application suite to new ScanMaster users as well as the thousands of ScanMaster stores already installed.

"We believe this approach will bring the highest ROI to independent grocers and further ease the support load on the selling dealers."

In addition to Connected Services, StoreNext also will offer other fully integrated, complementary products with ScanMaster, including its RBO back office platform, the PocketOffice suite of mobile solutions, U-Scan self-checkout system, TeamPoS 2000 point-of-sale hardware, Pricer electronic shelf labels and iPAD handheld computers.
